Founded in 1395 as the main palace of the Joseon dynasty, Gyeongbokgung is Seoul's largest and most majestic, its throne hall and lotus-ringed Gyeonghoeru pavilion set against the ridgeline of Bukaksan. The royal changing-of-the-guard ceremony plays out at the main gate twice a day, and anyone in hanbok enters free. Tucked inside are the National Palace Museum and the National Folk Museum.
