Spread across the hill between Gyeongbokgung and Changdeokgung, Bukchon is a living neighbourhood of some 900 hanok — traditional Korean houses with gracefully curved tile roofs. Its sloping lanes frame postcard views over the old city, and many homes now hold craft studios, tea houses and guesthouses. It's residential, so wander quietly and keep to daytime hours.
