Seonyudo Park sits on a small island in the Han River, on the site of the former Seonyu water filtration plant that supplied Seoul's tap water from 1978 until its closure in 2000. Opened in 2002, it was Korea's first park created by recycling old industrial water-treatment structures — concrete basins, tanks and pillars now hold aquatic-plant gardens, greenhouses and water-purification demonstration ponds. The island is reached on foot across the Seonyugyo arch bridge.
