Mullae Arts Village is a working steelworks quarter in Yeongdeungpo-gu where, from the mid-2000s, artists moved into disused machine shops and the floors above active factories. Today around a thousand ironworks operate alongside hundreds of artists in over a hundred studios, and the alleys mix metal sculptures, murals and rooftop gardens with cafés and restaurants — a raw, industrial contrast to Seoul's polished trendy zones.
