Heunginjimun (Dongdaemun)

The 'Gate of Rising Benevolence' is the great eastern gate of Seoul's Joseon-era city wall, uniquely ringed by a half-moon defensive wall. Floodlit at night and marooned on a traffic island amid the markets that took its nickname — Dongdaemun, 'Great East Gate' — it's a striking piece of old Seoul among the neon.
