The smallest of Seoul's grand palaces is also its most unusual, mixing traditional wooden halls with early-1900s Western stone buildings from Korea's brief empire. A guard-changing ceremony plays out front, and the tree-lined Deoksugung-gil stone-wall road beside it is one of the city's most beloved walks — especially under autumn gingko.
