Open in Hannam since the early 1970s, Bada Sikdang is credited as the birthplace of 'Johnson-tang' — a milder, cheese-topped take on army stew with sausage, ground meat and cabbage in a 24-hour beef-bone broth (named for U.S. President Johnson). It leans on cabbage rather than kimchi and skips the instant noodles, so it eats differently from a standard budae-jjigae — which is exactly why people make the trip.
